Low Back Pain: Symptoms, Causes, Treatments

Low Back Pain

There are very few people in the world who have not suffered from back pain at least once in their life. This is a well-known problem, which can occur at any age, but after the age of 40, especially women, almost everyone is affected by this problem. Back pain - Although it may seem like a problem or a disease, there are many causes. It is necessary to start the treatment by diagnosing the exact cause. It can be completely cured by taking the medicine as per the advice of the doctor and following the necessary rules, but in some cases the pain stays for a long time which can be controlled. However, in this case, just as the doctor's advice is needed, it is also very important for the patient to follow the rules according to the doctor's advice.

There are usually two types of back pain-

  • Acute pain (sudden sharp pain)
  • Chronic pain (long term pain)

There is also another type of pain called radiating pain/radiculopathy... It can usually be caused by pressure on the nerve.

Reason

Spondylosis: There are five lumbar vertebrae in the waist. If the lumbar bones are damaged due to age or heredity, it is called lumbar spondylosis. It affects almost everyone after 35-40 years, especially women.

Muscle spasm: It can occur at any age. The muscles on both sides of the spine may suddenly strain when lifting a heavy object, usually by bending. The severity of such pain is high.

PLID: This is also a powerful factor. It is more common in people aged 25 to 40 or 50 years. There is space in human bones. It is filled with palm shell-like discs or discs. If this disc comes out for any reason, it puts pressure on the nerve root. This can cause pain in the lower back and this pain can go down from the waist to the legs and there may be a feeling of relaxation, numbness.

  •  If there is a history of any major injury, back pain as well as chest pain, the patient should be given extra importance even if he has had tuberculosis before.
  • Low back pain should not be neglected if you have a history of cancer, osteoporosis, AIDS, long-term use of steroids.
  • In addition to the pain, fever, weight loss, loss of appetite, excessive sweating, etc., and if the pain extends beyond the waist to the legs, especially below the knee of one foot, or one leg should be careful if there is severe pain or discomfort.
  • Urinary or bowel problems, numbness around the anus, a curvature of the spine, weakness of the legs or contraction of the leg muscles, etc. should be given special importance. Consult a doctor immediately if you have any of the symptoms mentioned with low back pain.
  • If there is an infection in the urethra or bladder, women may have back pain even if they have an infection/tumor of the uterus.
  • Many times pregnant women also come to us with back pain because of pregnancy.

Symptoms

  • In the beginning, the pain is less and gradually it increases.
  • In most cases, if you lie on your back, the pain comes down a bit. The pain increases with a slight movement of the waist.
  • Pain can descend on both legs or any one leg. Dizziness, numbness, or heaviness may occur.
  • Back pain increases in daily activities, such as using low/desi commode, praying, walking, doing any work while leaning, such as sweeping the house, etc.

What happens during pain

  • At first, there is a little pain in the waist, but gradually the pain increases. Many times the patient may not be able to walk.
  • It can be a problem to wake up in the morning.
  • Legs become numb, tingling, and heavy. The strength of the legs decreases.
  • Muscles contract from time to time.

Diagnosis

  • There are some tests on the waist. Forward bending test, backward bending test.
  • Neurological deficiency has to be diagnosed.
  • Lumbar X-ray and MRI should be done.
  • Different types of blood are tested. Calcium tests, uric acid levels, diabetes, kidney function, urinary tract infections, vitamin D, etc.
  • In the case of chronic back pain, HLAB-28 is often tested.

Things to do in the initial case:

  • Sleep on a soft mattress. Many sleep on hardwood or on the floor. That's not right. You can't sit on a soft foam sofa for long. If you sleep straight, you can put a pillow under your knees and if you sleep with your head tilted, you can sleep with a pillow between your legs. When you wake up, you should try to lean to one side.
  • Do not do any work by bending or bending the spine.
  • Refrain from lifting anything heavy on the neck. If absolutely necessary, try to lift the heavy object closer to the body without putting pressure on the waist.
  • Must do regular physical work. If there is no opportunity for physical labor, he should use as much opportunity as he has for exercise or walking.
  • Obese people should reduce body weight. Weight control is a must-have, for any Affiliate, promoting any program.
  • Do not stand or sit in the same place for long. Driving for a long time in pain, working in a chair for a long time, you have to be careful in these cases.

Treatment

  •  In case of mild pain, you have to follow the rules as well as take hot sneezes and a small number of painkillers. In this case, more importance should be given to following the rules.
  • If the pain is severe, you must take the medicine as advised by a specialist orthopedic doctor. As well as the necessary tests.
  • In addition to the medical system, the doctor can give the patient physiotherapy - electromagnetic radiation, ultrasound therapy, lumbar traction, and various exercises. Remember- any back pain cannot be ignored, it must be treated seriously.
