Tech world special events throughout the year 2021
Facebook's 'Meta'
Facebook's 'Meta' |
Not just websites or social media services: Facebook has announced this year that it wants to see itself as the father of 'Metaverse.' In this virtual world, users can do everything from work, entertainment, communication; Facebook is dreaming of it. They have also changed their name to 'Meta.' After the Oculus headset, the user will enter Metaverse. There, the user will interact with other users, service providers, and in some cases, his office will become a room in Metaverse. However, experts believe that Facebook has changed its name to eliminate the ongoing allegations against them rather than Metaverse.
New Windows
Microsoft has released the latest version of Windows, the world's most popular desktop and laptop operating system. In the user interface, there is not much difference with Windows 10. In terms of apps, Windows 11 still has a lot in common with Windows 10. However, Windows 11 will be enriched with all the new features in the coming days and will go many times ahead of 10, according to Microsoft. However, Windows 11 is not very popular. Microsoft has removed all old PCs from Windows 11 support except new hardware. Excludes 32-bit operating system support and running PC without Secure Boot. Microsoft claims that it has dropped support for older platforms in anticipation of the future, so future software may not lag behind existing hardware. The return of Intel
Intel's success over the past few years has been small, initially losing market leadership to AMD, then Apple announcing the removal of Intel processors from their Mac. But with the new administration and roadmap, Intel is beginning to regain its position. Their 12th generation processors are more powerful than the current AMD processors, and they claim that the 12th generation laptops will surpass the Apple processor in performance. The new processors use performance and efficiency cores, just as seen in ARM processors. Intel claims that using this system will reduce the additional energy consumption and heat generation of both desktops and laptops.
Arm technology in the world of laptops
Towards
2020, Apple began selling two laptops and a desktop with its Arm technology
processor. The processor's battery-saving but compelling performance surprised
everyone. This year Apple has started selling two more powerful versions of
that processor in the laptop market. As a result, buyers of powerful
workstation laptops are also leaving Windows and leaning towards Mac. Following
the success of Macs rich in Arm processors, Microsoft and other manufacturers
are also looking at Arm laptops and Arm Windows tablets, which have not been
seen in the last eight years. If Intel and AMD, as well as Arm-based desktops
and notebooks, start gaining popularity in the coming days, the reason for that
change is today's Apple.
Google's first own processor
Finally,
Google has created two smartphones using their design processors. Both the
Pixel 7 and 8 Pro phones have their Tensor processor. Based on the processor
design of the Samsung Exynos series, the Tensor's primary capability is not
gaming or multitasking but the ability to process camera images faster. This is
the first time a 50-megapixel sensor has been used in a Pixel phone. Google has
specially designed the tensor processor to process this massive amount of image
data live at the moment. Google's processor can also be seen in the front
pixels.
Google and Microsoft's progress with tablets
It can be
said that Google has left the tablet market in the hands of Apple in the past
years. This year, Google has suddenly started working on a specialized version
of Android for tablets and large displays, dubbed Android 12L. Along with
Chrome OS, Google may again make tablets based on Android in the coming days.
Microsoft is secretly working on running Windows on the Arm processor. Their
first arm tablets were the Surface RT and 2, although Seguro stumbled due to a
lack of software. However, the Surface X currently holds a good position in the
market, although it lags far behind the iPad Pro in performance. But the
tablet-centric feature of Windows 11, given the current Intel App Arm support
system, suggests that Arm-based Surface tablets may outperform the iPad in the
future.
The chip crisis was maintained
The chip
crisis that began in 2020 is not over yet, so the latest AMD processor or
graphics card has been dropped from the list of buyers this year in many cases.
Several technology companies have been forced to release newer processors and
GPUs, such as Nvidia selling new RTX 2060 GPUs and Qualcomm bringing back the
Snapdragon 655 and 65 new 60s and 70s. Desktop or laptop PCs and gaming
consoles, and smartphones are under pressure from the chip crisis. As a result,
neither high-end PCs nor phones were on sale this year. Meanwhile, due to the
shortage of AMD processors, Intel has regained much of its lost market.
The smartphone market is in turmoil
Electronics
maker LG withdrew from the smartphone market in the first half of the year,
after which Oppo announced that the OnePlus brand was no longer unique. With
the departure of these two big manufacturers in the smartphone market, proving
the substantial business losses of Motorola and Nokia, the market is no longer
experimental, but now a specific Qatari brand is meeting consumer demand; There
is no room for practical and feature-rich phones. OnePlus phones are being
pushed into Apo because the sales and profit margins of the OnePlus phones are
not enough to support the design and software, and LG's remarkable design is
not winning the hearts of the customers. Interestingly, the return of the Sony
Xperia was seen in 2021. Although their new phones are made for a minimal
number of specialized buyers, those customers have welcomed the phone, so their
sales volume has been easily met.
NFT, Blockchain and Web3
The two
most significant fruits of blockchain technology are cryptocurrency and NFT.
There is nothing new about crypto; news of buyers losing their savings in
various coins has taken place in the media throughout the year. Crypto mining
has disrupted the graphics card market and even stolen large shipments.
However, unlike the NFT, its popularity is rapidly rising. Ownership of digital
products has also been ensured through blockchain technology, as a result of
which digital products have attracted many buyers at inflated prices in the
form of NFT. The interest in NNFT auctions is currently much higher than in
art, antique, or other auctions. In the future, service providers are
considering offering additional services on the Internet using blockchain
technology so they no longer have to rely on servers. This decentralization of
the Internet is what experts call 'Web 3' technology, which will soon be seen
in the coming days.
The journey of the new super telescope
The Hubble
Telescope has been giving us all the beautiful images of space for decades.
This giant telescope orbiting the earth is a powerful camera whose job is to
observe and record everything constantly. This time, NASA will launch a more
powerful telescope instead of Hubble, named James Webb Telescope. On December
24, the telescope launched into space. The primary mirror of the new telescope
is 21 feet wide, three times larger than Hubble's seven feet. Thanks to the
area and new camera technology, the James Webb Telescope will be 9 to 10 times
more capable than Hubble. Scientists believe the device will be named with
discoveries in the next few decades.
Advances in foldable phones
Initially,
phones with foldable displays were specialized devices made just for technology
fans. That has changed this year, with the Galaxy G Fold 3 topping the list of
best-selling phones of the year. The manufacturer TCLO has shown a test
foldable display phone this year, although it did not come to market. Xiaomi
has also launched a folding model Mi Mix Alpha this year. Chinese manufacturer
Apo has unveiled their folding phone Find N at the very end of the year, with
most technology enthusiasts saying they liked the price and design of the Apo
device. There is no doubt that the foldable display phone will further
strengthen its position in the market in the coming days.
